How Angels of God Work Among Us

Posted on December 14, 2017 By In Encouragement , Religion With no comments

In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

Luke 1:26-28

Have you ever heard the expression, “He’s a God-send?” or “She’s a God-send?” It’s used to describe a person who renders help at a time of great need.

Most important for us to realize is that God is involved in our lives. He does, in fact, send people or, as in today’s scripture — angels. God sent an angel to Mary to deliver a very important message.

One can only imagine what that visitation must have been like for a teen girl. Mary was probably about 14-years-old and a virgin. The message: “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35) Mary was to become the mother of God’s Son.

So, why an angel and not a person? If a stranger knocked on your door and said, “God has sent me to tell you that you are going to have a baby without the help of a man. And the father of your child will be God,” there’s a high probability you would slam the door in the visitor’s face.

A supernatural message required a supernatural messenger.

Admittedly, I’ve never seen an angel, but I believe they exist. Without getting too simplistic, “the Bible tells me so.” There are also some unexplainable events in my life, I believe have confirmed the ministry of angels among us.

Several years ago, my wife made a trip across town to a massive garage sale. While waiting at an intersection a vehicle ran through a red light and slammed into a Chevy Tahoe, sending it airborne. Janet said she looked up and saw the bottom of the Tahoe overhead. It was about to land directly on her. Suddenly, the approaching vehicle stopped in midair and came to rest within an inch of her front bumper. It was as if the vehicle was caught, moved, and carefully placed in front of her car. She believes, as do I, an angel intervened.

When I pray for my granddaughter, I ask God to send a guardian angel to watch over her. In Matthew 18:10, Jesus said of children: “See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.”

Another scripture passage that indicates angels are actively at work among us is Hebrews 1:14. “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

God uses different ways to speak and minister to us. Only the Lord knows who, what, where, when, why, and how. Most important is the knowledge God is intimately involved in your life. His resources for administering His direction, provision, and protection are limitless. Of course, His primary vehicle for ministry is His word.

As you go about the challenges of this day, I hope you will keep in mind you’re not in this battle alone. The Lord cares about you and wants the very best for you. He may send somebody into your life today to meet a need or share an important word. And don’t forget, He may use you as the instrument of blessing in somebody’s life. Just be ready to give, or to receive; to be blessed, or be a blessing.

Will He send an angel? Don’t know. But He certainly could exercise that option.
